Overview

Whether staying for business or leisure, The Victoria Hotel is the obvious choice when looking for contemporary accommodation in Melbourne. Idyllically located next to Melbourne Town Hall and minutes from the iconic Flinders Street Station and Federation Square, this historic hotel in Melbourne is within close walking distance to the city’s must-see attractions.

The Victoria Hotel is conveniently situated in the Free Tram Zone and offers easy access to Southbank and the city’s many galleries and museums, as well as the vibrant restaurant, café and bar scene. Shopaholics are in prime position to explore the Collins Street boutiques, Bourke Street Shopping Mall and Chinatown alleys. And for those looking for a night out, the Little Collins Street locale is the perfect base to take on the Melbourne’s lively East End theatre district, Crown Casino and famous sporting arenas.

Originally known as the Victoria Coffee Palace, The Victoria Hotel was established in 1880 as a sober alternative to the rowdy hotels with onsite pubs. One of the first hotels to be built in Melbourne, the property has evolved from a 19th century coffee house to luxury accommodation in the 20’s and 30’s, along the way witnessing war, prohibition and an Olympic Games, to become one of the city’s true landmarks.

With 370 spacious heritage rooms, The Victoria Hotel offers contemporary accommodation within what is arguably Australia’s most popular city. With a range of configurations available, each guest room is beautifully appointed with stylish furnishings and all the essential amenities and services the modern traveller needs to be comfortable and to stay connected.

    comfy beds
    friendly bar staff

our stay in victoria was fantastic! the heritage queen twin room was spacious and equipped with comfy double beds. the bar on the mezzanine floor had a lovely vibe and the staff were super friendly. it's a central location, just a short walk from popular spots. The rooftop fitness centre with a plunge pool was a nice touch!

I thoroughly enjoyed the historical charm of The Victoria Hotel, along with its central location that made exploring the city so convenient. The friendly and accommodating staff were particularly attentive, ensuring a comfortable stay throughout my visit.

Additional seating in the room would be helpful.

    Perfect location and excellent stay

I recently spent four nights at this centrally located hotel and had a fantastic experience. The room was clean and comfortable, providing a cozy space to unwind after exploring the city. I especially enjoyed the breakfast, which offered a delightful selection of fresh options. The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating, making my stay even more enjoyable. However, the heating/cooling controls could use clearer instructions for ease of use.

    good location

It was just a good pick for a weekend excursion in Melbourne with incredible value for money. The restaurant wasn’t open for dinner, so we had limited options for food, which was a bit disappointing. Make sure to check the dining arrangements before arriving.

    Charming stay with some quirks

I enjoyed the cozy Heritage Queen Room, offering a quaint charm. The breakfast options stood out as delightful, but quiet mornings can be disrupted by early activities. Grab a meal at the onsite restaurant. it's perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring. Just remember to request a quiet room!

    Perfect for family vacations

We stayed in a quiet twin bed room that was spacious, clean and warm even in the harsh winter. The staff were friendly and offered a significant discount for breakfast when we booked in advance. It felt comfortable and inviting, truly a good place to relax after long days.

It wasn't exactly budget-friendly, but the value was still reasonable for what we got.

    comfortable beds
    great location
    historic theatres
    confusing layout

Had an awesome time with my friends! We enjoyed shows at the historic theatres nearby. The beds were super comfy, and we loved the great location for exploring and dining. Plus, there’s a cool coffee shop right next door. Just a heads up, parking could be tricky, so plan accordingly.

The room I had was okay. the layout felt a bit confusing, almost like a maze at times, making it easy to get lost.

    spacious room

    tricky parking

Our family had a fantastic stay in a spacious heritage triple room, which was perfect for us and our little one. The leisure room was a nice spot to unwind, and the large shower made mornings easier. The parking situation could be a bit tricky, so I'd recommend planning ahead for that! 😊
